Warm ups

Today I'm going to talk about warm ups.

Warm ups are very important, I never used to pay much attention to them and ended up with an elbow injury. I had to stop playing for about 6 months and change my technique completly, even now (about 3 years later) I still have to wear an elbow support when I play.

One of the exercises I like is the one tabbed out below, it's very good for warming up your picking hand. Make sure you use strict alternate picking, it may be hard at first as you will feel inclined to use two downstrokes but stick with the alternate picking.

Ok, that's all for now. I'll be back tomorrow or later this evening with another warmup for your fretting hand.

  4. Ahhh. Guitar. I use to want to play so much, but no one would teach me since I am left handed. I had to learn off of tabs, like yours and I struggled and kind of gave up about a year or two ago. Still want to learn..

  5. I'm actually left handed! But I play guitar right handed because it was too hard to learn left handed. I actually think it's easier as your left hand is doing all the complex fretting.

  6. As someone who's not really musically talented, I can still say this reminded me of my efforts at playing and the concomitant failures. Good times, good times...

  7. I didn't know that if you really didn't use a proper technique it could debilitate you like that.

  18. Make sure to do some stretching for your hands before playing (if you play a lot). This also helps for gamers.
